DFS Selects Era for Hamburg Surface Surveillance System
DFS (German Air Traffic Services) has selected Era to provide surface surveillance for the planned A-SMGCS at HamburgAirport.
Reston, VA – February 19, 2008 – DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH (German Air Traffic Services) has selected Era to provide multilateration surface surveillance for the planned Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) at Hamburg Airport.
Hamburg Airport is one of Germany’s largest and fastest growing airports, accommodating nearly 13 million passengers last year. The A-SMGCS will help the airport and DFS support growth, maximize efficiency and ensure the safety of surface operations.
The A-SMGCS will fuse tracking data from Era’s MSS ground stations, strategically located to provide extended coverage of runways, taxiways and aprons, while improving automation of aircraft identification and surveillance in all weather conditions.
Era has been selected for surface surveillance at some of the world’s busiest and most important aviation hubs around the world, including Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, Copenhagen, Oslo and Munich.
“Era is very pleased to continue its important work in Germany with DFS,” said Russell Hulstrom, VP and General Manager of Era’s ATM Solutions business unit. “DFS is renowned for its engineering excellence and Era is committed to delivering surveillance performance that meets their high standards.”
