ADB zooms in on aspects of airfield ground lighting during Dubai Airport Show (UAE)
ADB, a pioneer in airfield lighting solutions, seized the opportunity offered during the past Dubai Airport Show to organize its Airfield Ground Lighting Seminar. A broad representation from the airport industry in the region attended the seminar focused on hot topics in airfield ground lighting. This event followed similar successful seminars in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and the UK earlier this year.
Dubai Airport Show (which ran from May 31 – June 2, 2011) is one of the world’s leading events devoted exclusively to airport construction, operations, technology and services, and an important meeting place for the airport industry in the Middle East. A regular exhibitor at the show, ADB presented its latest technological innovations in runway lighting, including the Runway Centerline and Touchdown Zone LED fittings, and the second generation of Taxiway LED fittings. A working demonstration model of the ADB Runway Incursion Alerting System (RIAS) also aroused great interest among trade show visitors.
Airfield ground lighting explained
During the Dubai show, ADB also organized an Airfield Ground Lighting Seminar aimed at giving airport professionals a greater understanding of ground lighting techniques. A large and very diverse group, including representatives from Gulf region airports, various Civil Aviation Authorities, main contractors and design consultants, attended this seminar. Topics covered included the innovative LED versions of runway lights and guidance signs, ADB’s modular Airfield Lighting Control and Monitoring Systems, and the ever recurring topic of quality in AGL installation and maintenance. Swedish FMT, specialists in aircraft gate support systems, were invited as guest speakers to demonstrate their Visual Docking Guidance Systems (VDGS).
“This seminar gave us the opportunity to live by ADB’s strategy, i.e. to provide our clients with top class service and support,” explains Ira Jackson, sales at ADB. “By giving more insight in contemporary airfield ground lighting technology, we offer potential clients all the necessary elements to take better business-decisions. It is also a great way to enhance our links with airport professionals in the region.”
Planning for next year’s seminar is already under way. Contact ADB for more information and to reserve your place. We also welcome suggestions for future discussion topics.
