HITT secures orders in Azerbaijan and Norway
Apeldoorn/The Netherlands, 18 October 2011 - HITT has received an order from Era, producer of multilateration systems, for an Air Traffic Guidance and Control System (A‑SMGCS) for the International Airport in Baku, Azerbaijan. In Norway, Oslo Lufthavn AS awarded HITT an order for an Airport Insight system at Oslo Gardermoen airport. The total value of the projects amounts to 1.6 million euros.
The airport in Baku is currently undergoing a major overhaul which will be completed in 2013. Part of this will be a full HITT A-SMGCS, including a Terma surface movement radar and the integration with a new multilateration system from Era. This system, bought by Azerbaijan Airlines, will allow the Azerbaijan air traffic controllers to safely guide the traffic on the airport under all visibility conditions.
The Airport Insight (AI) system in Oslo is an extension to the existing Air Traffic Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS). It provides airlines, ground handlers and other airport organisations with a real time web presentation of all aircraft and vehicle movements on the airport through a standard web browser. Oslo Lufthavn's requirement for a high availability server system for AI underscores its importance to the customer. With this system, Oslo airport has taken steps towards Airport Collaborative Decision Making (CDM), an important tool to improve airport efficiency.
