Azerbaijani A-SMGCS to be provided by ERA
ERA a.s., (ERA) announced today that it has been awarded the contract to supply a complete A-SMGCS system to Heydar Aliyev international airport.
Pardubice, Czech Republic, December 14th, 2011 - ERA a.s., (ERA) announced today that it has been awarded the contract to supply a complete A-SMGCS system to Heydar Aliyev international airport. Renamed for its former President Heydar Aliyev (IATA: GYD) the airport is the busiest in the Caucasus having seen a 240% increase in flights over the last 10 years. This increase in traffic has driven the need to implement additional airport surface surveillance to mitigate the risk of runway incursions and other ground traffic related incidents. Together with its partners, HITT and Terma, ERA will deliver a solution consisting of an Air Traffic Control system fed by both surface movement radar and MSS by ERAtm mulitalteration.
Vladislav Hofman, Managing Director of ERA stated that “This contract builds on the success the Azerbaijan Air Navigation Service (AZANS) has experienced with their wide area multilateration system deployed to monitor low flying helicopters and aircraft over the Caspian sea.”
Farhan Guliyev, Head of Development for AZANS indicated that “The new system utilizes the infrastructure previously deployed by ERA thus ensuring a smooth deployment and certification process”.
