Terma’s ATC*ISS Support Information System Terma has been successfully transitioned into the London Terminal Control facility.
Copenhagen – NATS, the United Kingdom’s leading air traffic solutions provider has successfully transitioned ATC*ISS Support Information System developed by Terma into the London Terminal Control facility. This facility controls some of the most complex and busy airspace in the world over south east England.
The system is designed to meet the needs of today’s air traffic controllers providing structured and real-time information. ATC*ISS collects, organizes, and serves relevant air traffic information, such as meteorological overviews and forecasts, air traffic load data, runway condition, maps, flight data, airport sensor data etc.
A key milestone was to successfully deploy the ACT*ISS system into the operation in time for the 2012 London Olympics. This has been achieved in what has been a seamless transition.
The support information system improves air traffic controllers “situational awareness” as it integrates information from several systems and airports to one common operational picture for the Terminal Control airspace managed by each controller. As a result improving air traffic safety and working conditions.
– By selecting Terma’s system, we have secured a professional and reliable solution developed by a competent key supplier. The operational transition was successful and the system has been well received by the operational staff, says Frank Wood, GM Programmes, NATS.
– The operational transition of the ATC*ISS in close cooperation with NATS marks an important step for Terma. We believe this implementation has significant future potential, and we intend to pursue business opportunities internationally with relevant partners like NATS, says Brian Bendixen, Terma Vice President, Homeland Security Systems.
Terma ACT*ISS is a well-proven air traffic control product with more than 10 years in service history. It is installed in several airports and control centers around the world. Recent successful installations are in Heathrow, Stansted, Gatwick, Abu Dhabi, and Copenhagen.
Terma develops products and systems for defense, civilian authorities, and security applications, including command and control systems, radar systems, self-protection systems for vessels and aircraft, space technology, and advanced aerostructures for the aircraft industry. The company has a total staff of 1,100 and realized 2011/12 revenues of 248 MUSD.
Terma is headquartered at Aarhus, Denmark, and maintains international subsidiaries and operations in The Netherlands, Germany, the U.S., and Singapore.
