2020/21 was a record year for Terma, which now announces its annual results.
Terma was recently awarded a contract to supply a SCANTER 6002 radar for the latest Indonesian Navy’s Hospital Assistance Ship (BRS). The radar delivery is planned for June 2021. The award follows a previous contract signed in 2019 to supply a similar radar for the BRS “Wahidin Soedirohusodo”, delivered in January 2021.
Terma has established itself in Indonesia with the opening of PT Terma Technologies Indonesia. The expansion emphasizes the company’s focus on the country, where it will pursue business opportunities within the aerospace, defense, and security sector.
Terma has been contracted by Norwegian Indra Navia technology provider to deliver and install an advanced SCANTER 5502 Surface Movement Radar (SMR) for Athens International Airport in Greece.
The flexibility of software-defined radar systems and advantages in digital signal processing allow for processing more information and this improves the situational awareness capability as well as the accuracy, high precision and improved detection. eSMR also gives a possible detection and classification of various moving targets such as birds within and above the aerodrome maneuvering area.
Canadian Air Navigation Service Provider NAV CANADA has taken the first SCANTER 5502 Solid State Surface Movement Radar (SMR) into operation in the country’s biggest airport in Toronto. Here the new SMR will work together with the two existing SCANTER SMR’s, already operational in the airport. The Terma supply also includes the new, heated anti-icing antenna that can prevent ice from building up on the antenna while spinning.
Terma’s First Embedded Tracker is now operational in Madrid Barajas Airport’s South Tower in a SCANTER 5502 Surface Movement Radar.
The high intensity obstruction lights from wind turbines can sometimes annoy residents who live nearby. This problem can be overcome by turning the obstruction lights on only when necessary, such as when there is an aircraft in the vicinity of the wind farm. Since end of December 2017 the obstruction lights have been de-activated during nighttime thanks to Terma’s SCANTER 5202 wind farm OLC system.
Terma has been contracted by Latvijas Gaisa Satiksme (LGS) to upgrade the existing Terma Surface Movement Radar (SMR) at Riga Airport.
Terma has been awarded the upgrade of the existing Surface Movement Radar (SMR) at Madrid Barajas Airport North Tower by AENA – the state-owned company that manages general interest airports and heliports in Spain. In 2016 Terma was awarded the upgrade project for the South Tower. Madrid Barajas thus joins the long list of major international airports to operate Terma’s solid state SCANTER 5502 Surface Movement Radar.
